It is the conscious part of the personality where the right or wrong balan cing of decisions is made. The ego section is the rational part of the human personality, and is also less primitive. It balances the needs of both, the Id and superego since it has two characteristics, that is, partly unconscious and partly conscious. The balance of these three characteristic traits will ensure mutual cooperation of individual since they have better understanding of each other. Interaction of people with good personalities enables them to share ideas and have a better understanding of individuals contributions. The good interpersonal relationship created by all the members ensures effectiveness and smooth running of the operations of the work place. Also, this interaction builds teamwork, reducing clashes while working which is always the cause of inefficiency. This will eventually lead to achievements of the goals set by the organization. Intelligence and Work Intelligent people are known to be creative and vibrant with a pool of ideas (Furnham, 2008). These individuals though, are known to be slow in delivering their conclusions. The reason to this is that they always want to produce quality ideas through a conceptual combination of thoughts. Their result ideas and findings are always noble and with lasting solutions to problems at hand. Intelligent individuals at work place provide combinations of ideas that suit the current process, enabling the management to spend less. These creative individuals will help the organization or company to achieve success by offering quality products and services to clients. According to Triarchic theory, intelligence is the mental activity that seeks to shape and develop an individual to adapt the surrounding environment (Sternberg, 1997). He views the intelligence that humans possess as talents. According to his studies, intelligence is a composition of three factors: Experiential intelligence- this refers to the ability of an individual to solve problems by generating new ideas and solutions. Creative intelligence- it is the ability and capacity of an individual to solve current problems utilizing the skills gained in the past as well as the current experiences. Practical or the contextual intelligence- defines the ability of an individual to cope with the dynamics of the situations. Therefore, according to the Triarchic theory, intelligent individuals will be creative, problem solvers and with capacity to cope with the changing trends of the current technology. Therefore it can be concluded that intelligence dictates performance of the employees in the work place. A healthy diet contributes to intelligence in human, and specifically the nutrient lutein (Van Hooren et al. 2007). The nutrients improve the ones ability to utilise the acquired knowledge and skills. With the ageing individuals, one may tend to forget what happened in their lives previously, and therefore dealing with the current challenges or problems similar to what had happened may seem difficult. Keeping healthy through eating food rich in nutrients will boost and preserve the crystallized intelligence in individuals. The accumulation of lutein nutrient in the grey matter of an individual ensures that there is a healthy brain function during the entire life span, despite the old age. According to Gottfredson Deary (2004), there exists a direct relationship between the amount of accumulation of the grey matter and the crystallized intelligence. Healthy diet makes individuals to keep this crystallized intelligence which helps boost the performance of an individual at work place, which directly corresponds to performance. Contrary to the above arguments, that personality and intelligence define achievement in the work place, both of these traits may not exactly define achievement due to the fact that; Personality is affected by several factors that include culture, environment, adaptations, and evolution characteristics among others which will contribute to changes or stability of personality. The productivity of the individuals is not directly dependent on their personality or personalities of the rest of the staff members. Maturity, and better organization of employees will bring success. Temperament, a major constituent and contributor to personality observed at early childhood can also be observed at the later age of over 20 years (Wilks, 2009). Consistency is observed which proves that there exist some links, thus the presence of stability in personality traits throughout the lifespan of an individual. Personality is largely linked to traits other than the environmental factors that may cause influence to personality. The stability nature of the personality will mean that individuals will always remain with similar characteristics and nature, which is not conducive for the de velopment and growth of the organization. Individuals should instead, be flexible to the changes in the internal and external environment for them to make achievements. Therefore, personality may contribute less to the achievements in work place. Also, Intelligence changes with time (age). According to (Wicherts et al. 2004), the intelligence of a person increases steadily for the first 20 years, which is the peak, before falling for the entire lifetime. This is the fluid intelligence which is associated with ones ability to recall past events and thinking as well as responding quickly. If this theory holds, then intelligence will not directly represent achievement in work, since most of the individuals working will have a falling graph of intelligence growth. The statement places other factors, apart from intelligence as contributors to achievements. Conclusion Personality and intelligence boost the overall performance in the work place, which will mean better achievements. The manner in which a person generates ideas, and putting them into action will depend on their level of intelligence. Personality, on the other hand, dictates how the individual will relate with other participants in the organization. The individuals with good personality will collaborate with others and always shares ideas with the rest of the members. Emotional intelligence has a greater impact on how the personality of an individual will be reflected. Personality has always been regarded as an inborn; the emotional intelligence helps individuals in recognising their behaviours, and to be able to manage them with regards to various situations. The social personality will ensure that there is a good interpersonal relationship, while intelligence, on the other hand, ensures that individuals display good morals and behaviour that will ensure high productivity in work pla ce. India Overview A Brief History of India The roots of Indian civilization stretch back in time to pre-recorded history. The earliest human activity in the Indian sub-continent can be traced back to the Early, Middle and Late Stone Ages (400,000-200,000 BC). The first evidence of agricultural settlements on the western plains of the Indus is roughly contemporaneous with similar developments in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Persia. The Indus Valley Civilization This earliest known civilization in India, the starting point in its history, dates back to about 3000 BC. Discovered in the 1920s, it was thought to have been confined to the valley of the river Indus, hence the name given to it was Indus Valley civilization. This civilization was a highly developed urban one and two of its towns, Mohenjodaro and Harappa, represent the high watermark of the settlements. The emergence of this civilization is as remarkable as its stability for nearly a thousand years. All the cities were well planned and were built with baked bricks of the same size; the streets were laid at right angles with an elaborate system of covered drains. There was a fairly clear division of localities and houses were earmarked for the upper and lower strata of society. There were also public buildings, the most famous being the Great Bath at Mohenjodaro and the vast granaries. Production of several metals such as copper, bronze, lead and tin was also undertaken and some remnants of furnaces provide evidence of this fact. The discovery of kilns to make bricks support the fact that burnt bricks were used extensively in domestic and public buildings. Evidence also points to the use of domesticated animals, including camels, goats, water buffaloes and fowls. Trade seemed to be a major activity at the Indus Valley and the sheer quantity of seals discovered suggest that each merchant or mercantile family owned its own seal. These seals are in various quadrangular shapes and sizes, each with a human or an animal figure carved on it. Discoveries suggest that the Harappan civilization had extensive trade relations with the neighboring regions in India and with distant lands in the Persian Gulf and Sumer (Iraq). The Harappan society was probably divided according to occupations and this also suggests the existence of an organized government. The Aryans and the Vedic Age The Aryans are said to have entered India through the fabled Khyber pass, around 1500 BC. They intermingled with the local populace, and assimilated themselves into the social framework. They adopted the settled agricultural lifestyle of their predecessors, and established small agrarian communities across the state of Punjab. The Aryans are believed to have brought with them the horse, developed the Sanskrit language and made significant inroads in to the religion of the times. All three factors were to play a fundamental role in the shaping of Indian culture. Cavalry warfare facilitated the rapid spread of Aryan culture across North India, and allowed the emergence of large empires. With work specialization, the internal division of the Aryan society developed along caste lines. Their social framework was composed mainly of the following groups : the Brahmana (priests), Kshatriya (warriors), Vaishya (agriculturists) and Shudra (workers). With land becoming property and the society being divided on the basis of occupations and castes, conflicts and disorders were bound to arise. Organized power to resolve these issues therefore emerged, gradually leading to formation of full-fledged state systems, including vast empires like The Mauryan Empire, the Gupta Empire, and the Cholas, Pandyas, Cheras, Chalukyas and Pallavas in the south. The Great Mughals The most important Islamic empire was that of the Mughals, a Central Asian dynasty founded by Babur early in the sixteenth century. His son Humayun succeeded Babur and under the reign of Humayun's son, Akbar the Great (1562-1605), Indo-Islamic culture attained a peak of tolerance, harmony and a spirit of enquiry. The nobles of his court belonged to both the Hindu and the Muslim faiths, and Akbar himself married a Hindu princess. Mughal culture reached its zenith during the reign of Akbar's grandson Shahjehan, a great builder and patron of the arts. Differences between Internet and World Wide Web The general belief is that Internet and World Wide Web in one and the same thing and in common parlance these two terms are being used interchangeably. However, in reality these two are totally different matters though they are intimately and irrevocably interdependent. In every establishment like banks, commercial offices, educational and research institutions and any other organisation employing multiple computers, they have a network among their computers so that data and information can be exchanged within the computers hooked up with that network. Such situations are said to be a networked one and the computers can be interchangeably used. Internet is a network of many such networks all over the globe. They enable networks to â€Å"talk† within themselves and benefit from one another. It is actually one massive network spread all across the world where people can access other networks. It transmits data in packets all over to its constituent sub-networks which is available almost everywhere now. It is governed by a definite set of rules and laws which is known as Internet Protocol (IP) which enables the internet to provide information and services in the form of e-mail, file transfers, chat programs to name a few. Now internet essentially is a huge network and therefore consists of a big collection of hardware items like many networking devices, copper wires, fibre optic cables and in some cases wireless connectivity. On the other hand World Wide Web is to be understood as the software part. In a PC there are the hardware components like key board, RAM, ROM, Hard Disk etc and there is also an Operating System which keeps the computer operational by enforcing some definite discipline for coordinating the activities. The World Wide Web is a collection of various web pages connected through hyperlinks and URLs. Thus World Wide Web is one of the services provided by the internet. Another way to distinguish between Internet and World Wide Web is the use of protocol system or suite. This is a collection of strict rules and regulations followed by both. As stated earlier internet uses IP which handles transmission in packets; the World Wide Web follows the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (known popularly as HTTP) which handles the linking of documents, files and many other resources of the World Wide Web. Thus in World Wide Web there is no hardware coming into play and it is all software, internet is a combination of hardware and software over which the World Wide Web is positioned. Actually as the figure depicts the internet is meant to connect networks and computers but the World Wide Web is meant to connect people i.e. the users. Difference between E-business and the traditional business: E-business is essentially business conducted with the help of the internet. It is also called E Commerce since many commercial transactions of yesteryear which were being done manually is now handled through the computer which not only makes the working more efficient but also more effective. Ituses the application of information and communication technologies for conducting the various activities ofbusiness like calling for tenders, receiving bids, making contacts with specific and targeted customer groups and the list is unending. Any business involves the exchange of products and services between individual businesses or simple between customers and suppliers. In the process extensive use of the internet is made and all actions which were previously being done by humans are now conducted electronically over the internet. In the traditional business the customer needed to execute most of the jobs by a variety of complicated but interlinked manual actions. Take the case of procurement. In order to procure any item the purchaser had to first short list the probable vendors and send out enquiries to them asking them to bid their best price and terms for executing the supply. After getting the offers the purchaser would have to see if the supplier was offering the correct material and at what price. A comparative chart of the offered prices had to be made manually and there after the best and most suitable offer would be selected for placement of order. Under E-Business the entire process boiled down to just sending out mails to intending suppliers asking them to give their best rates within a specified time. After the specific time got past the bid gets closed and the software makes out the comparative statement within a moment. There is no scope for deviation in the specification and even if the vendor is offering a better product at a higher price then too, that gets bypassed. The decision making is much faster and accurate since the computer cannot be bribed into making a faulty comparative statement which was a menace in the traditional method. On the flip side there is another story to tell. Since the internet is extensively used in e-business the chance of unscrupulous people – hackers – coming in to disturb the process. Hence precaution needs to be taken to ensure that the offers are from genuine suppliers and that too is free of all malicious intentions. E-Business involves much greater security hazards and risks compared to traditional methods of doing business and hence e-business users need to take adequate protection against these risks and hazards. Since, comparatively a much larger number of people (who have internet facility) have access to e-businesses the confidentiality of the transactions which was possible under the traditional manual system is lost in e-business. The major security concerns for e-businesses are in the areas of confidentiality and authenticity of data together with data integrity. E-marketplaces: E-marketplaces came into being after the internet became a very efficient and well developed platform for exchange of information. E-marketplace is a VIRTUAL marketplace where, like any other market, buyers and sellers can ‘meet’ and discuss, bargain and eventually settle a deal. The users are not aware where the actual hub is located but they know that this web based market is easily accessible to any serious seller or buyer. As just mentioned the E-marketplace is a web based information system which enables the buyer to interact with multiple suppliers and at the same time a suppliers can approach multiple prospective buyers for business. The E-marketplace takes the help of Internet technologies, its protocols and standards to disseminate data on goods and services and at the same time facilitate online transactions. No market is complete without its most visible group of people called ‘middlemen’. These people – usually called ‘brokers’ – call themselves ‘intermediaries’ in the e-marketplace and match the buyers with sellers to enable them to negotiate further and settle the deal. Usually they maintain a neutral position which ensures the building up of trust among the participants. They also lend support during some difficult transaction phases which facilitates the operations of such marketplace. They are ever trying to increase the number of users i.e. buyers and sellers in the e-marketplace. The most significant part of e-marketplace is the net benefit coming to both the buyers and the sellers. Seen by the transaction cost economics view, information technology helps to reduce transaction costs, risks, and coordinating costs of e-marketplaces. The cost of locating a suitable and competent supplier is negligible since the hunting is done on the internet. In traditional method the process is not only lengthy but also highly complicated and prone to errors. E-marketplaces can be seen either as a horizontal or a vertical marketplace. The horizontal marketplace handles a specific function (e.g. recruitment, tax advisory, auto-spares) and serves multiple customers in various industries, and a vertical marketplace concentrates on a spectrum of functions for any specific industry, e.g. chemicals, pharmaceuticals or steel. The strategic implications of the e-marketplace is that such a system is capable of reducing the costs required to be incurred by the customer for obtaining information about the quality, price, terms of payments and delivery schedules of product offers of a number of suppliers. Published in the midst of the Cold War, this novel was perhaps a fulfillment of whatever prophecy convinced Golding to abandon the sciences at the Oxford College where his father taught in favor of studying the English language and literature in greater depth. Work in the independent theaters of â€Å"very, very far-off-Broadway theater,† Royal Navy during wartime, and even the English educational system, were all in preparation for his masterpiece to come in 1954. Dissatisfied with wars between nations and within the school system, Golding made profound statements through the book. Success would finally accompany Lord of the Flies when, in 1959, it was published in the United States. Something about this book struck America – and the rest of the world – as frightening and truthful, insightful and dangerous, abhor rent and appealing. Why would a novel about a group of shipwrecked schoolboys on a deserted island, fighting for survival against the forces of nature, instantly become a classroom standard? So easily this plot line could have dissolved into the trash of 1950's pulp fiction, yet it easily maintained the dignity and importance of the great literature Golding held in high esteem. The forces of nature at work against the school boys of The Lord of the Flies were not just those brought in with the wind and the rain and hiding beneath the dense brush of the forest; the real forces of nature at work for these children was the darkness within their own hearts and the fear that accompanies it. This book is an examination of the inherent evil that is human nature, and the fear that controls every human's actions. Golding was able to convey this darkness and fear through his mastery of the English language; the vivid and visual writing style, execution of allusion and metaphor through charact ers and story elements, and portrayals of major plot events create a book that is not only readable, but also an important journey into the nature of every human.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Lord of the Flies is a book that reads at a fast pace but remains in the mind for careful consideration. Not dissimilar from the works of James Barrie (Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, Peter and Wendy), this complex story has the air of the children's adventure book.

So what is authority?Authority is â€Å"the power to determine, adjudicate, or otherwise settle issues or disputes; jurisdiction; the right to control, command, or determine† (Dictionary. com, n. d. ). Power is the ability to get things done either to enforce one’s own will or to enforce the collective will of an organization. This tells us that all managers have some form of authority. Now, let us distinguish between line authority and staff authori ty. Line authority gives management individuals the formal power to direct and control immediate subordinates. Staff authority gives managers the right to advise, recommend, and counsel other managers and employees.It is a communication relationship with management. It has an influence that derives indirectly from line authority at a higher level. According to Dessler (2008), line authority creates a superior-subordinate relationship and staff authority creates an advisory relationship. The authority of human resources is delegated by the top management of organizations. How much authority it derives from top management is a policy matter. With today's workforce becoming increasingly diverse and organizations doing more to maximize the benefits of the differences in employees, human resource managers are key players.Organizations are relying on managers to get the people who get the job done, and of course, make the company money. Human resource managers have three fundamental funct ions: 1) line function – directing activities within the department and related areas while having implied authority, 2) coordinative function – coordinating personnel activities and 3) staff functions – assisting and advising line managers. In conclusion, line, staff and human resources personnel must work together closely to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.To ensure that line, staff and human resources personnel do work together productively, management must make sure all groups understand the organizational mission, have specific objectives, and realize that they are partners in helping the organization reach its objectives.References Authority. Autistic Adults Children With Autism - 931 Words

AUTISTIC ADULTS When you hear about Autism you generally think of children; however, the children with Autism grow up. Most people with Autism are adults. Autism research from 1998 shows that adults are: underrepresented in autism research and studies into old age are extremely needed. Most of the Autism adults lack services or even diagnosis. People with Autism are inclined to anxiety and depression. The young adults are vulnerable to anxiety and depression when leaving high school especially in low income families, previous gained skills and their behavior slowed down or plateaued. Some good news emerged from Mailick’s study: Autistic symptoms: Impaired verbal and nonverbal communication and social interaction decreased over time among one-third to half of the study participants. They stayed stable in many others. Independent living skills remained stable. The adult autistic women showed a decline in vocationally occupied hours. Dr. Lisa Croen reports that elevated rates of: hypertension, diabetes and obesity from medical records of more than 2,000 adults with Autism. From the reports Physicians need to be aware that patients with Autism may have communication problems that could hinder the autistic adult from telling the doctor what are their sypmtoms.
